Auto-parts firm cited for violations in Huron

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited an automobile parts firm for 10 serious safety violations at its facility in Huron, Ohio, about 65 miles southeast of Toledo.

OSHA proposed fines totalling $59,500 against International Automotive Components LLC, which is based in Southfield, Mich. The company has 15 business days to contest the findings or request a conference with OSHA’s area director.

The agency inspected the facility after a complaint alleged that a worker’s finger was crushed when a mold being lifted by a remote-controlled crane swung into his hand.

This inspection was the first at the company’s Huron location, but its Sidney and Canton sites have been inspected a combined seven times since 2007, resulting in citations for 22 violations.
