Wranglers for the 2013 model year have redesigned front and rear seats with better padding, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and new interior lighting.

For the 2012 model year, Chrysler Group LLC gave the Jeep Wrangler a more powerful and more fuel-efficient engine.

That popular powertrain remains unchanged this year.

Instead, Chrysler’s engineers set their sights on the Wrangler’s interior.

The automaker says all Toledo-built Wranglers will have redesigned and better-padded front and rear seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and new interior lighting that includes LED map lights.

New options include Alpine premium speakers and a premium soft top that Chrysler says reduces cabin noise and is easier to clean.

Twelve exterior colors — including six new colors — will eventually be available.

Dealers began receiving 2013 Wranglers a few weeks ago.

Base price for the two-door sport model is up $150 to $22,195.

Chrysler also announced over the weekend a new special-edition Wrangler aimed at the off-road crowd.

The Wrangler Moab edition is based on the Wrangler Sahara and comes with off-road tires, upgraded rock rails, and special off-road bumpers.

Chrysler says the Moab edition can be ordered as either a two-door or four-door, and a choice of six colors is available.
