Chrysler to shut doors of Auburn Hills classic-car museum

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Walter P. Chrysler Museum outside Detroit has run out of money, and its classic car collection won’t be open except for special occasions.

The Detroit News reported the museum will merge with the Chrysler Foundation, and Chrysler Group LLC plans to buy the museum’s 67 vehicles and displays. The museum had 35,000 visitors last year.
