Vehicle thought to be Jeep Liberty replacement seen in Toledo

12/21/2012

This vehicle was spotted Thursday on Manhattan Boulevard in Toledo amid reports that employees at Chrysler's nearby Toledo Assembly Complex were testing a preproduction model prototype of a new vehicle. Chrysler will begin building an all-new Jeep at the Toledo plant in 2013. That vehicle will replace the Toledo-built Jeep Liberty, the last of which rolled off the assembly line in August. Chrysler hasn’t said what it will call the new vehicle, and has been carefully keeping almost everything about the new model under wraps.

The new vehicle is expected to be front-wheel drive based with a four-wheel drive option and more fuel-efficient than the current Liberty. The vehicle photographed yesterday in Toledo looks nearly identical to so-called "spy photos" published by automobile magazines and Web sites and identified as the Liberty replacement.
