TRAC: Clay holds off Northview; Findlay bounces AW
Late turnover costly as Central Catholic falls; big second half lifts Piqua past St. John’s

Clay led 22-0 after three quarters and held on to defeat Northview at home Friday night to open the season.
Aaron Seymour led the way for the Eagles with 96 yards rushing and a three-yard touchdown run.
Tyler Mildenberger added a 28-yard touchdown and Ryan Fournier rushed in from 78 yards out.
Preston McCurdy paced Northview with 29 carries for 159 yards rushing and two touchdowns, scoring on runs of 1 and 12 yards.
Findlay 36, Anthony Wayne 28
The Trojans won on the road, sprinting to a 33-14 first-half lead and hanging on.
Emmanuel Mogolu pounded out 164 yards rushing for Findlay, including scoring touchdown sprints of 80 and 30 yards.
Grant McKinniss booted three field goals for Findlay, and Grant Niswander caught a 51-yard TD pass from Brandon Muehl.
Steven Zirkel led the Generals with 168 yards rushing and two TDs. Evan Brown ran for 112 yards.
Zach Meyers and Jamal Allen caught scoring strikes from Isaac Smith, who threw for 190 yards.
Warren DeLaSalle 21,Central Catholic 14
The Pilots scored the go-ahead touchdown on Allen Stritzinger’s two-yard run with 1:50 remaining, then held off a Central Catholic rally thanks to a turnover.
The host Irish took a 7-0 halftime lead on Tre’Von Wade’s three-yard second-quarter TD run, and led 14-7 in the third quarter after Michael Warren (five carries, 121 yards) scored on another two-yard run.
But DeLaSalle tied the game on Tru Wilson’s 21-yard TD run in the third quarter. Stritzinger, who scored the Pilots’ first TD on a 35-yard third-quarter run, led DeLaSalle’s 225-yard rushing attack with 138 yards on 24 carries.
Central returned a late kickoff, then moved to the 15-yard line after two pass completions and a penalty. But Warren lost a fumble with 55 seconds to go, and the Pilots ran out the clock.
Piqua 42, St. John’s 21
PIQUA, Ohio — The Titans held a 21-14 lead in the third quarter, but three turnovers from there helped the Indians blow the game open with 28 unanswered points.
Running back Trenton Yeomans and quarterback Rupert de la Cruz scored thee touchdowns apiece for Piqua, all on runs.
St. John’s got a one-yard TD run from quarterback Matt Winzeler, Peter McIntyre scored on an 11-yard pass from Winzeler, and Christian King (six carries, 66 yards) added a 34-yard TD run for the Titans.
Winzeler was 19 of 24 passing for 228 yards and no interceptions, and Max McCormick had seven receptions for 131 of those yards.
