Late TD lifts Napoleon past Defiance

Springfield 43, Swanton 36

SWANTON — Aren Harris’ touchdown with 4 minutes, 7 seconds left made the difference as the Blue Devils prevailed in a back-and-forth game Friday night.

Harris scored the final three touchdowns for Springfield on 31, 8, and 9-yard runs. He also had a two-point conversion.

Yet Swanton had the ball at the Springfield 2-yard line to end the game when Thomas Bryant was stopped short of the goal line as time expired.

Scottie Seymour scored the first Blue Devils’ TD on a six-yard run, Steph Robinson had with a 93-yard kickoff return, and Bryant Koback scored on a 41-yard run.

Swanton was led by its ground game — Matt Rainey rushed 27 times for 154 yards and scored two touchdowns (one receiving), while Bryant added 11 carries for 149 yards, which included a 53-yard score.

Jordan Nyler and Bryce McComb added short TD runs for the Bulldogs, who trailed 20-14 at halftime.

Napoleon 49, Defiance 43

NAPOLEON — Zach Plassman scored the game-winning touchdown with 10 seconds left in a thrilling Napoleon win.

Plassman rushed in from eight yards out with the Wildcats trailing 43-41.

Plassman had two touchdowns.

Blake Dunbar threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns for Napoleon and Layne Schnitz-Paxton caught three TDs, one from Derek Gerken. Bo Cochran caught a 59-yard pass from Dunbar.

Dunbar added a three-yard TD run.

Alex Gonzalez passed for 339 yards and three touchdowns for Defiance and rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

Bowling Green 28, Rossford 23

BOWLING GREEN — Devon Garcia threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for two TDs to lead the Bobcats.

Garcia threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Brock Powers and found Ryan Emans on a 12-yard TD pass. Garcia also ran for scores of 1 and 44 yards.

Rossford were stopped late at BG’s 25-yard line.

Rossford’s John Allen passed for 187 yards and two touchdowns — an eight-yard toss to Erik Davis and a one-yarder to Chase Baney. Allen added a rushing TD of 16 yards.

Hector Aguirre had a 19-yard field goal for the Bulldogs.
