Falcons tie top-ranked Spartans

BOWLING GREEN - Michigan State's Ryan Miller made two of his 18 saves in overtime and Bowling Green's Tyler Masters made one of his 29 stops in the extra period of a 3-3 tie last night.

The Falcons (2-7-4, 2-5-4 CCHA) led 2-0 after one period on power-play goals by Curtis Valentine and Ryan Murphy.

The Spartans (10-1-3, 7-1-2), ranked No.1 in the latest USA Today/American Hockey Magazine poll, tied it on second-period goals by Andrew Bogle and Sean Patchell. Michigan State moved ahead on Brian Maloney's sixth goal of the season 1:26 into the third period.

Ryan Fultz tied the score again at 15:05 of the third period for Bowling Green - the first team to score more than two goals against Michigan State in 12 games dating to Oct. 13.

It was the Falcons' fifth overtime contest in their past eight games.

Bowling Green will play host to MSU tonight at 7:05.

MICHIGAN 6, N. MICHIGAN 2

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Mike Cammalleri's ninth and 10th goals of the season led Michigan past Northern Michigan.

Cammalleri's second goal of the game came 1:35 into the second period and gave the Wolverines (11-3-2, 7-3-0 CCHA) a 4-0 lead.

W. MICHIGAN 6, MIAMI 4

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - David Gove had a goal and three assists to lead Western Michigan.

The RedHawks (7-6-2, 4-4-1) scored first on Pat Leahy's power-play goal 2:34 into the contest. The Broncos (11-1-2, 6-0-2) struck back with four unanswered goals, including Gove's 14th of the season, over the first 15:33 of the second period.

OHIO ST. 6, FERRIS ST. 1

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Freshman Paul Caponigri had two power-play goals and an assist to lead the Buckeyes past Ferris State.

Freshman Mike Betz made 18 saves for the Buckeyes (6-3-0, 9-4-0), who held the Bulldogs (1-7-1, 3-8-2) scoreless until Josh Bowers scored in the third period.
