MUNCIE, Ind. - Top-seeded Ball State scored an 8-2 win over second-seeded Bowling Green yesterday - in a game that began Thursday - in the Mid-American Conference baseball tournament, eliminating the Falcons and ending their season with a 36-18 record.
Bowling Green had lost its first game on Thursday, 20-15, to Central Michigan.
In the second game, Ball State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on five singles.
Len Elias tied it for BG in the third with a two-run homer.
But Ball State scored two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a commanding lead when the game was suspended.
“We couldn't get our offense going at all,” Bowling Green coach Danny Schmitz said.
Eric Bava and Doug Boone each had a home run and three RBIs for the Cardinals.
Elias had two hits for BG. Corey Loomis had three.
