BOWLING GREEN - Bowling Green defeated Akron 85-73 last night in Mid-American Conference women's basketball, giving the Falcons (5-11, 2-3) their first two-game winning streak of the season.

Akron (1-14, 0-4) jumped out to a 13-11 lead, but BG made some adjustments to keep the Zips from pounding the ball inside and went on a 20-5 run.

Stefanie Wenzel had 20 points for the Falcons, Pam Brown added 17, Dana Western-Schuka 13 and Lindsay Austin 10.

BG coach Curt Miller credited his bench players for the victory. They played more minutes than usual because the starters played a lot of minutes Saturday.
