NMU scores early, tops BG

BOWLING GREEN - Craig Kowalski stopped 24 shots to lead Northern Michigan in a 4-1 victory over Bowling Green last night.

Terry Harrison, Justin Kinnunen, Dan Donnette and Mike Stutzel scored for the Wildcats. Northern Michigan (21-10-2, 14-9-2 Central Collegiate Hockey Association) scored twice in the first period.

The Wildcats outshot the Falcons 42-25 on the night.

For Bowling Green (8-21-6, 6-16-3 CCHA), Greg Day scored the lone goal. Tyler Masters stopped 38 shots.

Both teams were scoreless on the power play: NMU was 0-for-3 and BG was 0-for-2.

MICHIGAN 4, OHIO ST. 0

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Josh Blackburn stopped all 28 shots.

Jed Ortmeyer, David Moss, Eric Nystrom and Charlie Henderson all scored for the Wolverines. Michigan scored three of its four goals in the first period.

Wolverine John Shouneyia had three assists.

Ohio State (16-13-4, 10-10-4 Central Collegiate) outshot Michigan (19-9-5, 16-5-4) 28-24 on the night.

Mike Betz had 20 saves for Ohio State.
