Bowling Green women edge Ohio on Miller FT

BOWLING GREEN - Francine Miller knocked in a free throw with 44 seconds to play to lift Bowling Green past Ohio 73-72.

The Falcons never trailed after Miller drilled a 3-pointer for a 65-64 lead with 4:48 to play, although the Bobcats managed to tie the score twice in the last 1:31.

After Miller missed a pair of free throws with 20.9 seconds left, the Bobcats had one more chance. They called a timeout with 12.0 seconds remaining, and looked to get the ball to Andrea Johnson. Johnson put up a last-second shot that was wide of the mark.

BG improved to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the Mid-American Conference while Ohio dropped to 4-8, 0-1.

Miller led the Falcons with 20 points, while Lindsay Austin added 17 and a career-high 10 assists.

Latreece Bagley scored 18 for the Bobcats.

The win was the Falcons' fourth straight and their sixth victory in the last seven games. They will resume action Saturday afternoon at Northern Illinois.
