BOWLING GREEN - For the second time in three seasons the Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will host a Big Ten team at Anderson Arena.

The 2003-04 schedule was announced yesterday.

The Falcons will host Northwestern on Sat., Dec. 6. One week later BG plays at Michigan, fulfilling a contract that brought the Wolverines to Anderson Arena two seasons ago.

Other highlights on the 29-game schedule include a trip to Honolulu to compete in the Rainbow Classic as well as a home game in ESPN's “Bracket Buster'' tournament on Sat., Feb. 21.

The Falcons open Mid-American Conference play at Buffalo on Nov. 29, the team's only league game until it hosts Eastern Michigan on Jan. 3. Last season BG was 13-16 overall and 8-10 in the MAC.

The Bowling Green women's basketball schedule includes road trips to Corpus Christi, Texas, and Richmond, Ky., for holiday tournaments.

Coach Curt Miller will begin his third season with the team. BG opens the home season against Detroit on Tuesday, Nov. 25. BG will play 11 home games, including four non-conference home games, and could play as many as five doubleheaders with the men's team.

Bowling Green will open its 16-game conference schedule at home against Ball State on Wed., Jan. 7.

``The West Division of the MAC is a war every night,'' Miller said. ``But, I hope to be in contention for a title when we finish our regular season playing Ball State and Toledo, the reigning MAC West co-champions, in a three-day span.''

Last season the Falcons finished with a 12-16 record, 5-11 in the MAC.

Starting times will be announced in the near future, but most home games will be set to start at 7 p.m. on weekdays and 1 p.m. on weekends.
