BOWLING GREEN - Quarterback Josh Harris will get another chance to impress NFL teams, thanks to his selection to the Senior Bowl.

Yesterday Harris acknowledged that he has been invited to the Senior Bowl, which will be played in Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 24. Harris will be one of three quarterbacks to play on the North squad in the annual contest.

“I m excited to get the opportunity to play in a game of that magnitude,” Harris said. “I m honored to be selected.

Harris is just the fourth Falcon to earn a berth in the Senior Bowl and the first since defensive end Phil Villapiano was chosen in 1971. The other two BG players to play in that contest were tackle Jerry Croft in 1961 and defensive back Mike Weger in 1966.

The last Falcon to play in a postseason all-star game was offensive lineman Dennis Wendel, who played in the East-West Shrine Classic in 2002.

This season Harris threw for 3,427 yards and 24 touchdowns in leading Bowling Green to the MAC West Division title and a berth in the Motor City Bowl. Harris also ran for 762 yards and 12 TDs for the 10-3 Falcons.

The Senior Bowl will officially announce its complete rosters for both the North and South squads on Sunday, Jan. 18.
