BG s Zwierlein off to St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. - A Bowling Green State University administrator will be St. Bonaventure s new athletic director, according to a published report.

Ronald Zwierlein will be introduced at a news conference today, The Times Herald of Olean reported yesterday.

Zwierlein, senior associate vice president for student affairs at Bowling Green, was the Falcons athletic director from 1994-99.

He replaces Gothard Lane, who resigned as athletic director last April for his role in a men s basketball player eligibility scandal that also led to the firing of coach Jan van Breda Kolff.

The Bonnies were stripped of six victories and barred from the postseason by the Atlantic 10 after forward Jamil Terrell was ruled ineligible for violating junior college transfer guidelines.

In July, the school submitted a report to the NCAA, which could issue further sanctions.

Zwierlein was out of his Bowling Green office until tomorrow and unavailable to comment yesterday, his secretary said.

St. Bonaventure confirmed in a news release that a new athletic director would be announced today. A spokesman declined to confirm that Zwierlein had been hired.
