Honegger helps Falcons cruise past Bucknell

BOWLING GREEN - Liz Honegger scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Bowling Green State University ran past Bucknell 80-60 last night in women's basketball at Anderson Arena.

The Falcons (7-4) got 16 points from Carin Horne, 15 from Ali Mann and 12 from Kate Achter.

All 12 healthy players on the BG roster scored as the Falcons recorded their fourth straight victory.

Bowling Green led 41-24 at halftime and never looked back. BG scored the first seven points of the second half and led by as many as 31 points on several occasions before both teams began to substitute freely.

Bucknell closed the game with a 12-2 run to narrow the final margin.

The Bison (4-7) was led by Lindsey Hollobaugh with 15 points and Kristina Collymore with 12.

BG shot 40 percent (27 of 67) from the floor to Bucknell's 36 percent (18 of 50).

The Falcons made 21 of 29 free throws to the Bison's 20 of 28. BG had a 47-34 rebounding edge.

The victory pulls BG coach Kurt Miller, in his fourth season with the Falcons, even at 49-49.

BG finishes its nonleague schedule at 7-4 for the third straight season and opens Mid-American Conference play with games at Buffalo on Wednesday and at Western Michigan next Saturday. The Falcons' next home game will be Jan. 12 against Eastern Michigan.
