BOWLING GREEN - Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Louis Orr said neither the Falcons' player nor assistant coach who engaged in an altercation on the bench Saturday would be suspended from the team.

Orr said Monday that senior captain Darryl Clements will start this Saturday against Buffalo despite his taking off his jersey, throwing it down, and leaving the bench during the second half of BGSU's win over Fordham. Clements left and did not return after arguing with assistant coach George Jackson.

Orr said Jackson may have grabbed Clements' jersey during the dispute, but there was no further contact as alleged on some Internet chat boards.

Orr said Clements acted out of "emotion," "frustration," and a "lack of self control." The coach said the team held a meeting Monday to resolve the dispute.

A university spokesman said Clements, Jackson, and the rest of the team were not permitted to comment.
