Pontius leads BGSU women to OT win

BUFFALO - When the Bowling Green State University women play overtime, they play overtime.

Especially Tracy Pontius.

Deadlocked at 66 with Buffalo after regulation last night, the Falcons outscored the Bulls 23-16 in the extra session for an 89-82 victory with Pontius hitting five 3-pointers and capping the BG total with two free throws.

Pontius scored 27 points in all. Niki McCoy added 16, Lauren Prochaska 15 and Lindsey Goldsberry 10.

"Overtime was an unbelievable offensive performance by both teams," BG coach Curt Miller said. "I've got to believe that's one of the highest-scoring overtimes in NCAA history."

It was the highest. The 39 points scored surpassed the mark of 36 set by Maine and Stetson on Dec. 30, 1989.

"We just kept running plays for Tracy as she got hot, and that was just an incredible performance by Tracy in overtime to help get us the victory," Miller said.
