BGSU coach takes top honor

BOWLING GREEN Bowling Green baseball coach Danny Schmitz has been named the Mid-American Conference coach of the year.

The Falcons won the MAC regular-season title and are the top seed in the MAC tournament which starts today in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Falcons right-hander Brennan Smith was named MAC pitcher of the year and to the All-MAC first team. Teammates Logan Meister, Ryan Shay and Matt Malewitz joined him on the first team.

University of Toledo pitcher Matt Kuna was named to the All-MAC second team. BG s Derek Spencer and Tyler Elkins also made the second team.
