BG puts clamps on Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. - The Bowling Green men's basketball team held Fordham scoreless over the final 5:32 of the first half on the way to a 67-46 road win Saturday.

The Falcons scored the final 14 points of the first half to take a 34-18 lead at the break and cruise to their third straight victory. BG now is 4-3 on the season, while the Rams fell to 1-5.

The game was the first for Jared Grasso as Fordham coach after the Rams fired former North Carolina State standout Dereck Whittenburg Thursday.

The Falcons' Dee Brown scored eight points to fuel his team's late run, and Bowling Green led by as many as 26 points in the second half.

Brown finished with 14 points, while Scott Thomas had 10. Otis Polk added nine points and 11 rebounds.

Bowling Green put together a fine defensive effort, allowing Fordham to shoot just 23.8 percent from the field, including an abysmal 18.2 percent on 3-pointers. The Falcons also forced 15 turnovers. Thomas had three steals.

Fordham's Chris Gaston posted a double-double, finishing with game highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds while blocking five shots. Lance Brown came off the bench to add 10 for the Rams.

Jonathan Dunn scored 26 points to lead the Express (4-5) in a home victory.

Josh Robinson finished with 21, Dalante Heard had 17, and Derrick Sanderfer had 15.
