Falcons heading to Humanitarian Bowl

Bowling Green State University is going bowling in Boise.

The Falcons, who finished the regular season with a 7-5 record, accepted an invitation Sunday to play Dec. 30 in the Roady'sHumanitarian Bowl against Idaho at Bronco Stadium.

First-year BG coach Dave Clawson steered the Falcons to victories in six of their last seven games to overcome a 1-4 start and become bowl eligible.

“I'm really happy for our seniors. They're going to finish their careers on an up note,” Clawson said. “We're really glad that they can go out on a high note.”

The Falcons, closed out the regular season by defeating rival Toledo 38-24 to finish 6-2 in the Mid-American Conference East Division, one game behind Ohio and Temple. The EagleBank Bowl (Dec. 29) in Washington and the International Bowl (Jan. 2) in Toronto had also been mentioned as possibilities for BG.
