Bowling Green men lose Goins

BOWLING GREEN - Bowling Green State University announced that Darion Goins has decided to leave the men's basketball team.

Goins, a 6-foot-3 junior, missed Wednesday's game because of illness. He played in only 13 games this season and averaged 1.6 points.

The Cincinnati native transferred to BG after playing two years at San Jose State.

After sitting out the 2008-09 season as part of NCAA transfer regulations, Goins became eligible to play this season.

However, Goins was a nonscholarship player and has decided to focus on his academics.
