Western Michigan rallies to beat BG

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Bowling Green State University shot 60 percent from the field on Sunday afternoon and still came up short against Western Michigan in a Mid-American Conference tournament first round matchup.

The Broncos topped the Falcons 75-73 in a game BG led by as much as 10 points in the first half before Western Michigan (17-14) rallied back to advance to the second round of the MAC tournament.

BG's Scott Thomas nailed 10 of 15 shot attempts to score a game-high 23 points, including a 3-for-4 effort from 3-point range. Marc Larson recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. Joe Jakubowski provided 11 points and Dee Brown 10 in a game the Falcons (14-16) made 29 of 49 shots.

David Kool scored a team-high 20 points to lead Western Michigan, which will face Central Michigan on Thursday in a second-round matchup in Cleveland.
