BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University named Jamie Baringer as director of the Ice Arena. She will take over July 1.

Ms. Baringer, who has spent 16 years in sport, recreation, and ice arena management, said she hopes to “bring back the glory” to the Ice Arena.

“There will be some challenges, but it's a challenge I can take and run with,” she said.

A native of the Cleveland area, Ms. Baringer previously served as general manager of the Lou and Gib Reese Ice Arena in Newark, Ohio. She is a certified ice arena manager, operator, and programmer with experience in university-level intramural and recreational sports.

Ms. Baringer will replace interim director Jeff Crawford, who held the position since August.

The Ice Arena is closed for upgrades and is to reopen at the end of the summer.
