Kent State thumps Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN – Visiting Kent State held the Bowling Green State University football team to just 135 yards of total offense, including minus-10 yards rushing, in pounding the Falcons 30-6 at Perry Stadium Saturday.

BG got a 75-yard kickoff return by freshman Jerry “Booboo” Gates in the first quarter for its lone points as it fell to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the Mid-American Conference.

The Golden Flashes (3-4, 2-2) sacked BG quarterback Matt Schilz six times for 38 yards in losses and forced the freshman to complete just 18-of-35 passes for 118 yards and two interceptions.

The Falcons had 19 plays that gained either zero or negative yards, and those 19 plays accumulated 60 yards in losses.

Meanwhile Kent State quarterback Spencer Keith completed 26-of-32 passes for 223 yards and two TDs, both to Tyshon Goode. Goode finished with 12 catches for 158 yards.
