BGSU women clinch division with win over Kent State

BOWLING GREEN – The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team rolled to a 49-29 halftime advantage and claimed an 80-59 win over Kent State at Anderson Arena on Saturday.

With the victory BG clinched the Mid-American Conference’s East Division title for the seventh straight season as well as the second seed in the MAC Tournament – and a first-round bye – by improving to 24-4 overall and 12-3 in the league.

Chrissy Steffen tied her career high with 22 points, thanks in part to four 3-pointers. Tracy Pontius made five 3-pointers and had 18 points, while Lauren Prochasha and Maggie Hennegan added 14 and 11, respectively.

Taisja Jones finished with 25 points and nine rebounds while Jamilah Humes had 13 to lead Kent State (19-8, 10-5 MAC).
