CLEVELAND – The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 67-56 loss to Western Michigan in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday.

The Falcons trailed just 20-17 with 8:35 left in the first half before WMU scored 10 straight points, and BGSU came no closer than seven points in the second half.

Danny McElroy made 7-of-8 shots in the game and finished with 15 points and five rebounds off the bench for Bowling Green, which finished the season 14-19. Dee Brown had 17 and A’uston Calhoun finished with 10 for the Falcons.

Demetrius Ward had 14 points for Western Michigan, which advanced to Friday’s semifinals. Flenard Whitfield had 12 points and 10 rebounds while Matt Stainbrook had 10 points and seven boards for the Broncos (20-11).
