BG's Calhoun scores 25 but Falcons fall to Valpo
12/11/2011VALPARAISO, Ind. -- In a game that featured 10 ties and nine lead changes, A'uston Calhoun scored 25 points and Jordon Crawford added a career-high 22 but the Bowling Green men's basketball team lost to Valparaiso 82-79 Saturday night.
Valparaiso improves to 7-2 with the win and Bowling Green falls to 5-4.
Cleveland State 69, Akron 66
CLEVELAND -- Jeremy Montgomery made a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left to lift Cleveland State to a win over Akron.
Cleveland State seemed to have control of the contest, leading by as many as 12 points in the second half. But the Vikings (10-1) ended up losing their lead and trailed by two points with 1:48 left after Akron's Demetrius Treadwell made a free throw.
Despite Akron's rally, Cleveland State would not allow the Zips (3-5) to score any more. Montgomery, who finished with seven points, tied the game at 66-66 on two free throws, and then made his only 3-pointer of the game to put the Vikings ahead for good.
Trevon Harmon led Cleveland State with 16 points, while Tim Kamczyc and D'Aundary Brown each finished with 13.
Zeke Marshall scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Akron.
Treadwell had 15 points and Quincy Diggs added 11.
Buffalo 80, Youngstown State 72
BUFFALO -- Both Javon McCrea and Mitchell Watt tallied double-doubles, leading Buffalo in a win over Youngstown State.
McCrea scored 29 and pulled down 13 boards, while Watt had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulls (6-2), who have won back-to-back games for the third time this season. Zach Filzen added 11 points for Buffalo.
The Bulls trailed 39-38 at the break, but McCrea scored Buffalo's first six points after halftime to put them up 44-42 less than two minutes into the second half. A 3 by DuShawn Brooks put the Penguins back on top 45-44 but Titus Robinson then scored four straight to put Buffalo back on top for good.
Youngstown State pulled back within 62-61 with 8:38 left, but Tony Watson II hit a 3 to spark a 7-0 Bulls run to seal it.
Kendrick Perry scored 18 points to lead the Penguins (6-3).
