LARAMIE, Wyo. -- The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team claimed a 60-53 victory over Wyoming late Thursday night.

The win was the Falcons' ninth in their last 10 contests and improved their record to 9-3 entering a contest at Colorado State Saturday.

Jessica Slagle finished with a career-high 16 points, thanks in large part to 12-of-16 shooting from the foul line, to lead BG, while Chrissy Steffen connected on three 3-pointers on the way to 15 points.

Ashley Sickles scored 16 to lead the Cowgirls (4-8). Chaundra Sewell finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Kaitlyn Mileto added 10 for Wyoming.

"I am ecstatic with that win," Bowling Green coach Curt Miller said. "I am as happy with that win as I have been with a win in a long time. This is a huge road win for our team."

The first half was a back-and-forth affair until Bowling Green used a 20-8 run to take a 28-24 lead at the break.

"Wyoming is a team that lowers the amount of possessions in a game, so you know you will play a close game," Miller said. "If you have a few good runs, you can put yourself in a position to have success."

The Falcons led by as many as 13 points in the second half, and Wyoming came no closer than six points in the period. Slagle made 11-of-14 free throws in the half to keep the Cowgirls at bay.

The Falcons held a 42-37 rebounding advantage thanks to 12 boards by Alexis Rogers, and BG made just 12 turnovers while Wyoming had 11.
