  • BOWLING GREEN -- The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team will take part in the Preseason National Invitation Tournament and host Michigan State as part of its 2012-13 schedule.

The Falcons will open the season with a contest against Lake Erie on Nov. 9, the first of six nonconference home games. The biggest name on that list is the Spartans, who will visit the Stroh Center on Dec. 18.

Coach Louis Orr's squad also will play in the Preseason NIT in games on Nov. 12-14 at the University of Michigan. BG, the Wolverines, and two other teams will play in a bracketed tournament, with the winner advancing to play Nov. 21 at Madison Square Garden.

If Bowling Green does not win the Michigan bracket, it will play two others games Nov. 19-20 at a site to be determined.

The Falcons begin Mid-American Conference play at Central Michigan on Jan. 9.
