BOWLING GREEN -- Katrina Salinas will join the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team this season, coach Jennifer Roos announced today.

Salinas is a 5-7 point guard from Sacramento, Calif., who comes to BGSU after two years at Central Arizona College.

Last seaosn Salinas averaged 10.3 points and 4.1 assists per game to lead the Vaqueras to the NJCAA national tournament for the 10th consecutive season. The team went 20-0 to earn the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference title, with Salinas earning all-league third-team honors. CAC finished with an overall record of 31-3.

Salinas is enrolled in classes at BGSU for the fall semester and will be eligible to play in the 2012-13 season. She has two years of eligibility remaining after playing two seasons at CAC.

“Katrina is a fantastic late sign for our program,” Roos said. “She has demonstrated a large amount of independence and maturity by going away from home, and that independence transcends into many positives on and off the basketball court. She brings a vast knowledge of the game to our team and adds immediate depth to our point guard position.
