As the Falcons leave Wood County to face their rivals Saturday, some Bowling Green fans are worried. Some are concerned because the defense struggled to stop the Idaho passing game. Some are nervous because the offense seemed to be its own worst enemy, especially with penalties. Some are worried just because BG didn't hammer the Vandals after playing so well at Florida.

Those worries are "glass half empty" fears. Yes, BG struggled to stop the pass -- but stoned the Idaho run game. Yes, the Falcon offense struggled with penalties -- but still finished with 373 yards of total offense and 21 points. And yes, they didn't hammer the Vandals -- but they won a game that, in the past couple of seasons, they might have found a way to lose.

If you must worry about something … well, here: While the Falcons' effort Saturday was good, the execution wasn't. That was especially puzzling when you consider how good the execution was when facing 85,000-plus Gator-chomping crazies, not to mention a nationally ranked team, one week earlier. Championship teams execute at a championship level. Always. To reach the heights the Falcons seek this season, they will need to perform at a championship level every week, not just weeks where they must play well in order to win.
