CCHA poll votes BGSU won't finish last

BOWLING GREEN -- For the first time in four seasons the Bowling Green State University hockey team was not picked to finish last in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association pre-season polls.

The league's 11 coaches said Falcons would tie with Northern Michigan for eighth as both teams garnered 43 points, 13 behind Michigan State in seventh. The media who covered the league had BG in ninth place with 264 points, 125 in back of Northern Michigan in eighth.

The coaches poll predicted Notre Dame would win the CCHA with 105 points, including seven first-place votes, followed closely by Michigan (100 points, two first-place votes) and Western Michigan (97 points, two first-place votes).

The 87 media members polled said Michigan would win the CCHA, giving the Wolverines 50 first-place votes and 903 points total, followed by Western Michigan (825 points, 25 first-place votes), Notre Dame (765 points, nine first-place) and Ferris State (626 points, three first-place votes).
