BOWLING GREEN -- The Bowling Green State University football team became bowl-eligible with a 24-3 win over Eastern Michigan at Doyt Perry Stadium Saturday. BG's fifth straight win improved their record to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

The Falcons defense limited EMU to just 178 yards of total offense and scored on a 23-yard fumble return by Chris Jones in the third quarter.

The BG offense scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter. Tailback Jordan Hopgood threw a 53-yard scoring strike to Shaun Joplin on the game's first drive, and Andre Givens added a 27-yard TD run late in the period.

Tyler Tate made a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to close the scoring for the Falcons.

Eastern Michigan's lone points came on a 42-yard field goal by Dylan Mulder midway through the first period.
