Which school has lost the most Mid-American Conference football games? I'll give you a hint: It was the losingest MAC program in the 1970s, '80s, and '90s, and only the addition of Buffalo kept it from claiming the 2000-09 decade too.

You guessed it: Kent State entered this season with 286 league losses, 40 more than any other school. But this year's team isn't your father's Golden Flashes — or even your big brother's, for that matter. KSU comes to BG this Saturday with a 9-1 record, is ranked 25th nationally, and has won its first six MAC games. The Flashes have a shot at the school's first league title since 1972, which would be just the second in school history.

A good number of KSU fans will make the two-hour trip from northeast Ohio to watch Saturday's game at the Doyt. But here's the important question: How many BG fans will come to the game?

BG administrators won't say this publicly, but they had to be disappointed by the announced turnout of just more than 13,000 for the Eastern Michigan game despite a four-game win streak. BG fans need to do better than that Saturday to support a team that will be playing for the MAC East title. If they don't, there will be questions about how much BG fans love the school and the sport.
