Steffen scores career high as Bowling Green women win 79-74

Senior guard Chrissy Steffen scored a career-high 28 points as the Falcons beat Niagara University 79-74 on Thursday in Niagara, N.Y. Steffan made 10 of 15 field goals, which included 3 for 7 from the 3-point line, in 38 minutes.

Jillian Halfhill added 14 points for the Falcons (2-0), who made 22 of 56 field goal attempts (39.3 percent) and 29 of 37 free throws (78.4 percent). Halfhill made 10 of 12 free throws. Alexis Rogers had nine points and seven rebounds for BG, Danielle Havel had seven points and seven rebounds, and Miriam Justinger added seven points and four rebounds.

Lauren Gatto scored 16 points for Niagara (1-2), while Chanel Johnson finished with 14 points and Meghan McGuinness added 13 for the Purple Eagles.
