MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 68-54 victory against Alabama-Huntsville in the Falcons’ final game in the NIT Season Tip Off.
The contest was the second game in as many days for both squads and was played at Robert Morris College’s Sewell Center.
A’uston Calhoun posted the first BG double-double this season with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Chauncey Orr posted a career-high 11 points. Jordon Crawford added 10 points and four assists for the Falcons (2-3).
Connor Blasi had 14 points to lead Alabama-Huntsville, the third-ranked Division II team in the country. Wayne Dedrick scored 13 and Ronnie Mack added 11 for the Chargers, who made 10 3-pointers but fell to 3-3.
Orr scored the game’s first basket, and Alabama-Huntsville promptly scored the next nine to force BG to burn a timeout less than five minutes into the contest. But 3-pointers by Orr and Luke Kraus helped the Falcons get back into the game.
Bowling Green still trailed 21-13 with 8 minutes, 58 seconds left in the first half before the Falcons used a 17-2 run to lead 30-23. Calhoun scored the final eight points during that run as BG led 37-31 at halftime.
Bowling Green will return to action Tuesday night, when it hosts Detroit at the Stroh Center starting at 7 p.m.
