UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Bowling Green State University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Penn State in a second-round NCAA tournament game on Saturday.

The Falcons’ 25-15, 25-12, 25-15 loss to the top-ranked team in the country means BG will finish the season with a 22-11 record.

Penn State, which has won four national titles since 2007, advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 31-2 mark.

Danielle Tonyan had 11 kills but was the only player in double figures for BG, which had as many errors as it did kills (18).

Ariel Scott had eight kills while Nia Grant and Deja McClendon each had seven to lead the Nittany Lions, who hit .329 for the match.

BG stayed close in the first set, trailing just 17-14 before an 8-1 finish gave the Nittany Lions the set.

The Falcons fell behind 15-10, then watched Penn State use a 10-2 rush to close out the second set.

In the third set the Falcons managed to tie things at 10, only to see four straight points start a 15-5 Nittany Lions run that closed out the match.
