EVANSTON, Ill. — Alexis Rogers put together a dominating performance to lead the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team to a 60-37 win over Northwestern on Sunday.

Rogers finished with 25 points and added five rebounds and seven assists to lead the Falcons to their third win in a row. Chrissy Steffen added 14 points as BG improved to 6-3 on the season.

Northwestern, playing without double-digit scorers Maggie Lyon and Dannielle Diament, lost its third straight game. The Wildcats (6-3) were led by Kendall Hackney, who had 15 points before fouling out.

Bowling Green dominated the contest from the beginning, scoring the game’s first 11 points and holding the Wildcats scoreless until a basket by Hackney with just 9:24 left in the first half.

Northwestern missed its first 11 field-goal attempts and had six turnovers before scoring.

The Wildcats finished the half shooting just 4-for-18 from the field (22.2 percent) while turning the ball over 12 times.

Meanwhile, Rogers was virtually unstoppable offensively in the first half, making 6 of 11 shots from the floor, including 2 of 3 on 3-pointers, to score 16 points in the half. She also had five steals as BG led by as many as 15 and took a 28-15 halftime lead.

Northwestern scored on its first four possessions of the second half to cut the Falcons’ advantage to 35-25 with 17:13 left.

Steffen made a 3-pointer with 12:09 on the clock, and that jump-started a 10-point run by Bowling Green that sealed the win.

The Falcons made 5 of 11 3-pointers in the second half (45.5 percent) as Steffen made two while Rogers, Jillian Halfhill, and Bailey Carinduff each added one.

Bowling Green begins finals week today and won’t return to action until hosting Wyoming at the Stroh Center on Sunday at 1 p.m.
