Falcons pick up 5-1 victory at Michigan

ANN ARBOR — The Bowling Green State University hockey team posted a season high in goals to claim a 5-1 win over the University of Michigan on Tuesday.

Bryce Williamson scored twice, while Andrew Hammond finished with 19 saves for the Falcons. BG now has a four-game unbeaten streak.

Williamson got Bowling Green (6-10-5, 3-7-3-1 Central Collegiate Hockey Association) on the board with his first goal at the 6:10 mark of the opening period. Marc Rodriguez scored less than two minutes later to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.

Michigan’s (7-11-2, 4-8-2-2) lone goal came off a redirection by Luke Moffatt past Hammond with 3:03 gone in the second period.

Ryan Carpenter got that goal back with at the 11:46 mark of the second, and Adam Berkle added a goal at 14:27 as BG led 4-1 after two periods.

Williamson got the lone goal at the 11:51 mark of the final period.

The Falcons return to action next Tuesday when it hosts nationally ranked Notre Dame at the Ice Arena.
