Falcons hockey snaps win streak, falls 2-1 to WMU

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Bowling Green suffered a 2-1 loss Saturday night to No. 10 Western Michigan in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game.

The Falcons were riding a four-game winning streak and six-game unbeaten string

The Broncos’ Mike Leone scored the winning goal at the 12:52 mark of the third period.

Bowling Green (8-11-5, 5-8-3-1 CCHA) got its only goal in the first period on Ryan Carpenter’s team-leading 10th of the season, which came at the 12:35 mark of the period.

The Broncos (14-6-4, 10-4-2-1) tied it with a power-play goal by Luke Witkowski at 15:47 of the second period.

BG’s Andrew Hammond finished with 33 saves, while WMU’s Frank Slubowski stopped 18 shots.
