Falcons fall to Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Bowling Green suffered a 4-1 loss Saturday to No. 11 Notre Dame in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association game.

The Falcons, who fell to 13-18-5 and 10-15-3-1 in the CCHA, will be the ninth seed in the CCHA tournament and will travel to Lake Superior State for a best-of-three series starting Friday.

Notre Dame is 21-13-3 and 17-8-3-2.

Each team scored a goal in the first period, with Notre Dame’s Mario Lucia scoring at 5:31 before BG’s Andrew Wallace tied the game at 13:19.

The Irish took the lead for good on a power-play goal from David Gerths at 4:26 of the second period, then got third-period goals from Anders Lee and Nick Larson on the power play.

BG’s Andrew Hammond finished with 22 saves, while Notre Dame’s Mike Johnson stopped 26 shots.
