BG forces deciding Game 3 with 6-3 victory over Lake Superior State

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Bowling Green scored four times in the second period to claim a 6-3 victory Saturday at Lake Superior State in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoff game.

The Falcons’ victory ties the best-of-three series, with the deciding game at 7:05 p.m. today.

Lake Superior’s Eric Drapluk and the Falcons’ Ryan Peltoma scored for a 1-1 tie at the first intermision.

Cam Wojtala scored to give BG (14-19-5) its first lead of the series early in the second, while Bryce Williamson, Adam Berkle, and Ryan Carpenter added second-period goals to counter Drapluk’s second goal of the night.

Lake Superior (17-20-1) got a power-play goal from Chris Ciotti in the third, but Bowling Green closed the door with an empty-net goal by Bobby Shea.

Falcons goalie Andrew Hammond finished with 21 saves. LSSU’s Kevin Murdock stopped 17 of 22 shots, while Kevin Kapalka — who shut out the Falcons on Friday — started the third period and had nine saves.
