BG cruises past UMass

BOWLING GREEN -- The Bowling Green State University football team defeated UMass 28-7 at Doyt Perry Stadium today.

The Falcons scored on four consecutive possessions, their last two of the first half and their first two of the second half, to improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

The BG defense shut out the Minutemen until just 4:34 remained in the game, when Mike Wegzyn threw a 24-yard TD pass to Tajae Sharpe.

UMass fell to 0-5 and 0-1 in the MAC.

THIRD QUARTER

The Bowling Green State University football team scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and leads UMass 28-0 after three periods at Doyt Perry Stadium today.

The Falcons drove 56 yards on five plays, with Tyler Beck catching a 23-yard TD strike from Matt Johnson. On its next drive BG covered 55 yards on five plays, with Heath Jackson catching a 9-yard touchdown toss from Johnson.

 

SECOND QUARTER

The Bowling Green State University football team scored twice in the second quarter to lead UMass 14-0 at halftime at Doyt Perry Stadium today.

The Falcons drove 91 yards on seven plays, with Ronnie Moore catching a 51-yard TD pass from Matt Johnson with 7:51 left in the period.

After a punt by the Minutemen, BG drove 70 yards on 11 plays, with William Houston scoring from a yard out with 1:15 left on the clock.

The Bowling Green defense has limited UMass to just 127 yards of total offense in the first half, including just 14 yards passing.

 

FIRST QUARTER

The Bowling Green State University football team played to a scoreless tie with UMass after one quarter at Doyt Perry Stadium today.

The Falcons managed just 68 yards of total offense, including just 10 yards passing, on 20 plays.

But BG held the Minutemen to just 47 yards of total offense on 15 plays, including just eight yards passing.
