COLUMBUS — The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team beat its second Big Ten team this season by whipping Ohio State 64-52 at the Schottenstein Center on Sunday.

The Falcons made 12-of-21 3-pointers to win for the second time in three days in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.

Northview High School grad Miriam Justinger scored 14 points, while Jillian Halfhill had 13 and Deborah Hoekstra 11 as BG improved to 6-1 this season.

Ameryst Alston scored 15 points to lead Ohio State (5-2), with Raven Ferguson adding 12 and Darryce Moore 10. Liberty-Benton product Cait Craft scored six, while Start grad Maleeka Kynard was scoreless but had a pair of assists.

The Falcons used 3-pointers by Erica Donovan and Alexis Rogers to build an early 8-2 lead, and Bowling Green held that advantage through the first half to lead 25-21 at the break.

Ohio State cut the margin to 28-26 in the first two minutes of the second half, but a 3-pointer by Justinger kept the Falcons in front.

The Buckeyes moved to within 37-35 with 14:48 to play, but Halfhill scored the game’s next seven points to kick-start a 12-0 BG run, and the Falcons never allowed OSU to come closer than eight the rest of the way.

BG’s next game is against Monmouth in Springfield, Mass., on Dec. 1 in the final game of the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.
