Cooper, Berkle each score 2 goals in Falcons’ victory

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green scored five straight goals on the way to a 6-2 victory over Lake Superior State in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest Saturday at the BG Ice Arena.

Mark Cooper and Adam Berkle each had two goals as the Falcons led 3-1 after one period and 5-1 through two. Ben Murphy and Matt Pohlkamp also scored for the BG (13-10-5, 10-7-3 WCHA).

Bryce Schmitt had an unassisted goal and Ian Miller also scored for the Lakers (12-13-1, 8-10-0).

Freshman Tomas Sholl stopped 25 shots to earn the win in net for Bowling Green, while Lake Superior goalie Kevin Murdock finished with 36 saves.

Bowling Green’s next game is at 7:07 Friday at home against Michigan Tech.
