Summer settings for weddings

7/27/2000

An endless receiving line greeted newlyweds Julie and Troy Gleason, who were married July 15 at Gesu Catholic Church, with a reception following at Belmont Country Club. The bride, the daughter of Tom and Julia Mahoney of Ottawa Hills, was elegant and cool in an up-do hairstyle crowned with flowers and a full-shirted chiffon gown with a cap-sleeved scoop-necked bodice. Her bridesmaids were dressed in stylish spaghetti-strapped blush pink gowns. The groom, the son of Annettte Gleason and Robert Gleason, both of Belfountaine, O., was handsome as ever in a tuxedo with a white vest and tie.

The couple soaked up every minute of fun on that day full of sunshine, because when the party was over, it was back to the books, he for medical studies (podiatry), and she for the bar exam.

EMPLOYEES OF the Quality Inn Hotel and Conference Center on Reynolds Road were a bit nervous when the wedding reception for the boss's daughter was scheduled for the hotel ballroom, but everything was perfect.

Tami Ducat, the daughter of Rose and Darrell Ducat of Perrysburg, married Tim Plantz, the son of Carol and James Plantz of Genoa, on July 15 at First Presbyterian |Church in Perrysburg.

The bride, lovely in a white silk chiffon gown imported from Spain that had a crystal-encrusted bodice, beamed next to her handsome, tuxedo-clad bridegroom. Bridesmaids in a rainbow of pastel gowns and carrying matching flowers added to the sunny mood. The couple whisked off to Jamaica for their honeymoon, then went camping upon their return home to Perrysburg.

A TROPICAL-THEMED weekend was the send-off for the Hawaiian honeymoon of Alyssa Levin, the daughter of Jeff and Sheryl Levin of Maumee, and Jeremy Bauer, the son of Jeff and Anne Bauer of Ottawa Hills.

Alyssa and Jeremy were married July 8 at the Wyndham Hotel, with a garden reception following, but the festivities started with a Hawaiian luau-style rehearsal dinner the previous night at the Valentine Theatre.

The bride was a princess in a water-colored tulle-skirted gown attached to a lace-and-crystal fitted bodice with crystal straps.

Her dog, Roxy, who came down the aisle on a flower-embellished leash, wiggled with delight with all the attention. But everyone's eyes were moist with tears as the handsome, tuxedo clad prince serenaded his wife-to-be during the ceremony by playing the song, "If," on his guitar - his bride had given him the instrument as a wedding present.

PEOPLE ARE still chattering about the picture-perfect wedding of Josh Maisel and Eden Chapman that was July 1 in the gardens of the Cambria Pines Lodge in the oceanside town of Cambria, Calif. A rehearsal dinner was given at the Castoro Cellars winery.

Mr. Maisel is the grandson of Jeanne Michael of Sarasota, Fla., who attended the wedding, and the late Louis Michael, founder of Michael Realty. He is the son of Sandy Maisel of Waterville, Me., and Mary Lou Michael of South Freeport, Me.

The bride is the daughter of Don Chapman of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Marybeth Chapman of Honolulu.
