River parties were fun in the sun

Last week's sunshine put the finishing sparkle on several end-of-the-season river outings.

The Toledo Hospital and Toledo Children's Hospital Auxiliary fall membership meeting on Sept. 26 was short and sweet to leave plenty of time for fun aboard the Sandpiper. The group cruised the Maumee on the sunny afternoon while enjoying gourmet box lunches.

Seen at the casual affair were Pati Boyle, Jackie Koontz, Sue Cardone, Anne Hartley, Mary Ann Michel, and Cheryl Gibbs. Bev Lynch and Patty Talbut braved the breezes on the upper deck.

Chairman was president-elect Debi Lewis, who announced there are still tickets available for the Oct. 20 fund-raiser, the Event 2000.

AMY SCHEICK and Josh Gasaway cruised the Maumee aboard Brenda and Tom Geiger's 74-foot Hatteras yacht, “Tireless,” last Friday after their wedding rehearsal. The cocktail cruise was followed by dinner at Navy Bistro.

Parents of the newlyweds, Roger and Patsy Gasaway and Bob and Marilyn Scheick, attended with family and friends.

The sunny evening and starlit night were followed by warm sunshine last Saturday for the wedding at Rosary Cathedral and the reception at Carranor Hunt and Polo Club.

After a Las Vegas, Maui, and San Francisco honeymoon, the newlyweds will reside in Toledo.

THE RIVER RAT Rendezvous last Sunday afternoon started with a cruise aboard the Arawanna II, followed by dinner at the Maumee River Yacht Club. The River Rats, a group of riverfront residents, was started in 1974 as a progressive dinner group.

IT WASN'T along the river, but last Sunday's Sisters of Notre Dame Family Festival was a lot of fun. A crowd gathered to enjoy arts and crafts, games, a silent auction, bake sale, and dinners with homemade applesauce and pies prepared by the Sisters.

Meanwhile, Heartbeat of Toledo held its annual Champagne Brunch at Inverness Club. And last Thursday the Lucas County Retired Teachers Association's fall meeting was held at the Toledo Club.
