Delta Gamma fraternity celebrates its 131st anniversary this year: The fraternity was founded March 15, 1871, in Oxford, Miss.
In honor of Delta Gamma's anniversary, the Toledo Area Delta Gamma Alumnae Group Chapter, which was founded in 1922, hosted a Founder's Day Brunch March 2 at Inverness Club. The local group celebrated its 80th anniversary, too.
Pink and blue - the Delta Gamma colors - were everywhere, along with cream roses, the fraternity flower. There was plenty of time to mingle, browse boutique booths, and have handwriting analyzed. Brunch quieted the group before the program began.
Special recognition was given to 50-year member Eleanor Harms, Bowling Green State University; 60-year members Ruth Johanssen, Purdue University, and Jean Fox, Ohio State University, and 65-year member Merle Blank, University of Utah.
Co-presidents are Carol Robinson and Cindy Hoffman.
Suggestions included: watch a movie, tell stories, play games, sit by the fire, or just hang around the house. The obligation-free evening at home includes a choice of delivered goody baskets. Honorary chairmen are David and Cindy Taylor, who said last-minute reservations are welcome. General chairwoman is Sara Moynihan, assisted by committee members Kristine Hoffman, Sena Mourad, Mary Sabin, Debbie Rozek, and Judy Barnard.
Ms. Verhoff was still undecided about what to wear to the show - black for mourning 40? Or a bright color so everyone at home can see her? Hmm. Tune in today. We'll get the scoop when she returns.
