Brain Drain? Not here in Toledo as far as EPIC Toledo - Engaging People, Inspiring Change - is concerned.

The group just finished its month-long competition for members to learn about and become engaged in northwest Ohio. Teams were assigned a list of 45 different venues such as art and tourist attractions, community organizations, and businesses to visit, then report on via video, photos, and written documentation. The race celebration party and awards reception is from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 25.

One of the fun events along the way, sponsored by team No. 7, was a a wine-and-cheese reception June 9 at 20 North Gallery, featuring artwork by children at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo. An estimated $300 was raised for the club, thanks to team members including Priya Bathi, Matt Hutchinson, and Leandra Hutchinson. Also at the event was Dave Wehrmeister, executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs.

THE energy of young professionals is also seen in other local groups. Work, Play, Live Toledo is a social and leisure networking group for professionals over the age of 30. It's gathering for a pool party at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Toledo Yacht Club. The $5 admission fee covers the grill-your-own Rudy's hot dogs.
