Reception in honor of Polish diplomat

Peggy Grant, art director at 20 North Gallery and an artist in her own right, hosted a private reception Aug. 12 at the gallery. As curator for the works of her late husband, Adam Grant, she honored Adam Kulach, Polish ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ambassador Kulach arranged for an exhibit of Mr. Grant s paintings in the Polish Embassy, and he was instrumental in the naming of the Adam Grochowski-Grant Hall, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Following the embassy exhibit, Mr. Grant s work will travel to Poland for museum exhibitions in his native country. During World War II, Mr. Grant was a prisoner in the Nazi concentration camps Auschwitz and Mauthausen.

At the reception, Ambassador Kulach and Mrs. Grant were honored with local and national governmental proclamations. Mrs. Grant presented a gift representing her late husband s art to the ambassador.

Guests, including many who have Grant artwork in their homes, sipped and nibble, as Clifford Murphy and Claude Black performed classic jazz.

Guests viewed Review/Preview, a show of art featuring local, regional, and international artists, including some of Mr. Grant s works. Tomorrow night, the show will be part of a downtown art walk and will run through Oct. 10.
